How hit factor works
Hit factor is stage points divided by time in seconds. It is how Comstock scoring ranks a run: speed and accuracy both count, so a fast run with a few C hits can beat a slower, cleaner one, and a quick run full of misses will not.
How points are scored
This calculator uses Minor power factor:
- A zone: 5 points
- C zone: 3 points
- D zone: 1 point
- Miss: minus 10 points
- No-shoot hit: minus 10 points
- Procedural penalty: minus 10 points each
Stage points never go below zero. Major power factor scores C and D hits higher (4 and 2 points), so a Major run's hit factor will differ from the one shown here.
A worked example
18 A hits, 2 C hits and 1 miss in 9.50 seconds: 90 + 6 − 10 = 86 points, and 86 ÷ 9.50 = a hit factor of 9.05.
